As Africa’s investment narrative shifts from potential to performance, the 15th edition of the UK–Africa Business, Trade & Investment Summit is set to provide a high-impact platform for UK investors to engage directly with scalable ventures, regional leaders, and bankable projects across East and Southern Africa.
We are pleased to announce that Oliver Scheidt, CEO and Founder of The Strategic Economy Ltd, will join the summit on 12 September 2025 at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.
Oliver brings a wealth of experience at the intersection of government, business, and civil society, having previously served as Chief of Staff to Lord Popat of Harrow, the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Uganda and Rwanda.
As head of The Strategic Economy Ltd, Oliver leads a firm that facilitates high-level investment matchmaking, private deal rooms, and trade missions into East Africa. His firm specialises in helping UK-based investors and global companies navigate the complexities of regional project development by forging vital connections with African institutions, businesses, and communities.
“Our role is to smooth the way for projects of African origin by working at the nexus of government, business, and consultancy,” says Scheidt. “We empower businesses to engage with integrity and foresight, which is exactly what sustainable investment in Africa demands.”
Oliver’s participation at the summit will focus on highlighting bankable projects, identifying public–private partnership opportunities, and reinforcing the UK’s role in supporting Africa’s development journey through strategic capital and commercial collaboration.
This year’s summit is more than a conference—it’s a deal-making platform built around facilitating real outcomes.
Held in partnership with key institutions including the UK Department for Business & Trade, UK Export Finance (UKEF), London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), The Commonwealth, and the Uganda High Commission (UK), the summit will convene over 500 senior stakeholders. These include policymakers, DFIs, multinational CEOs, and high-growth entrepreneurs.
The 2025 theme, “Accelerating Growth Through Partnerships for Global Market Expansion”, reinforces the importance of UK capital and expertise in unlocking Africa’s development sectors.
